Designing Renewal: Crafting the Vision for RENEW Weekend

At Olive Baptist Church, renewal is more than just a concept—it’s a calling. This year, I had the privilege of designing the RENEW Weekend project, a thoughtfully curated event set for April 11-13, dedicated to revitalizing hearts, homes, communities, and our church.

From the outset, the goal was to create a seamless experience that would inspire and engage attendees. This meant not only crafting the visual identity of the event but also ensuring that every design element reinforced the message of spiritual renewal.

A Weekend Designed for Transformation

The event is structured around four key sessions, each focusing on a different facet of renewal:

• Friday Evening: A warm welcome with food, fellowship, and worship, setting the tone for personal heart renewal.

• Saturday Morning: Guided prayer, worship, and insightful breakout sessions addressing renewal in the home.

• Saturday Late Morning: A powerful session emphasizing our role in renewing our city through faith and service.

• Sunday Gatherings: Worship and messages centered on church renewal, culminating in an evening session designed to leave a lasting impact.

Designing for Engagement and Impact

My role in this project went beyond aesthetics—it was about storytelling through design. From the branding and visual elements to the layout of digital and print materials, every piece was thoughtfully created to reflect the heart of RENEW Weekend. The challenge was to strike a balance between elegance and accessibility, ensuring that the design was both inspiring and inviting.

The color palette, typography, and imagery were chosen to evoke a sense of peace, growth, and restoration, mirroring the spiritual journey attendees would embark upon. Every touchpoint, from promotional materials to on-site signage, was crafted to enhance the experience and guide participants seamlessly through the weekend.

A Collaborative Effort

Bringing this vision to life required collaboration with an incredible team. Through careful planning and creative synergy, we developed an experience that not only informs but inspires—encouraging individuals to step into renewal with purpose and passion.

As the RENEW Weekend approaches, I am excited to see how this project comes to life and how it will impact those who attend. It is my hope that the design serves as a bridge between message and experience, helping to create an atmosphere where true renewal can take place.
